I dont agree with this thinking. Al Gore, John Kerry and Hillary Clinton all lost. The safe middle of the road candidate usually loses because why should Republicans vote for Republican-lite, like Klobuchar, when they can vote for the actual republican.
I feel its flawed logic at best. Using your thinking, Klobuchar, Biden, Bloomberg and Buttegeig are the best candidates. All bar Biden has a race problem. All will be easy to attack for Trump.

One more thing, Warrens campaign is diving and it could be argued its due to a softening of her policies. The timing of her softer stance and lack lustre performance sand polling numbers do back up the claim. Harris' campaign also faltered after she softened her stance. I dont agree the middle of the road is the best choice for the Dems.

The one time they got radical, with Obama, they won. He then turned out to be the safest, middle of the road President ever but candidate Obama was exciting to both the GoP and Dems. The same could be said of Bill Clinton too.

Your argument is one that is peddled on MSNBC, CNN etc all the time. Its sounds like good logic but in practice it fails far more than it succeeds
