I don't think she was trying to evade any punishment. I thought there was a whole narrative forming that the blood on that night was hers and that she wasn't actually guilty of harming anyone but herself. I could be wrong, but that's the impression I've had.

She was allegedly very terrified about the prospect of police bodycam footage being shown in court and released to the public. She didn't want to be judged and scrutinized by the world. I don't know anyone who would want footage of them at their lowest point released into the public domain.
