I think they've clearly learned a LOT from XV but have finally refined it into something that combines it with classic FF menu-based combat in a way that works. They were trying hard in XV, and it improved significantly from launch with various updates, but they never quite got there.
It also means things are looking very positive for main series entries going forward. An FF renaissance?
