Rewatched Batman Begins yesterday, I actually thought it was better than I remembered. I didn't know much Batman lore when I watched it the first time (e.g. I had no idea who Ra's al Ghul was or his significance as a DC character so found him a bit random as a villain when it was first released. Very much enjoyed it this time round, armed with a lot more Batman general knowledge. I shall be watching Dark Knight next week sometime .

Funnily enough:
Batman: Bad Blood 8/10
Animated movie. Includes an origin story for Batwoman. Batman has disappeared, so Nightwing, Robin, Batwoman, and Batwing investigate. Ra's daughter (Robin's mother) Tahlia is causing shti with her League of Shadows.

Batman: Dark Knight Returns 8/10
Also animated. A "what if" future where Batman retired after Joker killed Jason, the second Robin. He's lured out of retirement and is joined by a new Robin, Carrie Kelley, whose vibrancy and optimism gives him a new lease of life. But the Joker is also back, and worse than ever... Also includes a better Batman V Superman fight than the movie of the same name!

edit: as a fan of Batman and general DC comics, I prefer the animated movies to the live action ones because they generally are either direct(ish) adaptions or otherwise fit into the "canon" with no difficulty.

Triple Frontier - 8/10

Enjoyed this a lot. Was actually just looking for a switch brain off action film and thought this would be like the Expendables but there was more to it than that, was pleasantly surprised by the strength of the script and characters

Blue Ruin - 6/10

Surprised this got such good reviews really although I appreciate it was made on a very low budget etc. The acting is strong but I just felt a bit meh about the characters and the plot

You should watch the original. The first 20 minutes or so is sheer thriller/suspense greatness. It’s actually on YouTube I saw it not long ago. FAR exceeds the remake.

The Platform

The reviews were really positive and the premise of the film is actually very clever, I just thought the execution was awful

Skyfall (2012)

I can't believe it's taken me this long to watch this film! Not only is this the best Daniel Craig Bond film, it's the best Bond film ever imo. The performances from Craig, Judi Dench and especially Javier Bardem were incredible!

10/10.

What Happened to Monday on Netflix

A decent dystopian film on Netflix with great acting by Noomi Rapace.

Just finished Dark Knight Rises, which I haven't seen for years and didn't rate all that highly at the time. I actually really liked it and would probably rate it the best of the Nolan trilogy . That's also because I watched The Dark Knight earlier in the week and actually DIDN'T rate it as highly as when I first saw it, though it was still great .

I don't think I properly "got" the subtleties of Dark Knight Rises back in 2012.

However...

Bane's voice is still daft
