No because the street on a normal day is not a dangerous place and you would expect the animal to be safe. When you take your dog for a walk it's (I presume) to places that you know are safe for a dog.

A motorway is not a safe place for a dog. A crowd of disgruntled people is not a safe place for a horse. I know that, YOU know that, the police know that. Are you trying to say that the police don't know that any protest can get rowdy? Are you saying they haven't been watching the news from America? Are you genuinely hand-on-heart trying to argue that the police think they're taking these animals into a safe situation when they ride them into a crowd? Honestly I just don't believe it. I don't think for a second you'd take a horse or a dog or any other animal into the middle of a crowded protest ... because you know it's not a safe place for them ... even if they don't get hurt it's clearly a distressing environment. Why are you making excuses? Animal advocacy is an admirable trait and even when I don't 100% agree with you, your absolute best posts on this site are when you're advocating for animal rights. Why are you letting your impulse to defend the authorities lessen that on this occasion?

From the footage I saw apart from the horse that bolted, the remainder of those injured were police on foot?

People have said it was the polices fault for the horses getting hurt for using the horses, so riot or not people shouldnt use them for anything.

I am not defending the police though,I am saying the people who hurt the horses are to blame, they shouldn't be there ,but they were, we cant change that, surely people ,even those who are angry know full well when they throw things at animals they will get hurt and they are the innocents in this.

My opinion is, NO animal should be used in any way including for our entertainment , and most people will move away from a horse surely, they are not invisible.

Blame isn't a finite resource though, why does it have to be that ONLY the people who threw things are to blame or ONLY the police are to blame? They share the blame. Horses shouldn't be in that situation and the police (in future) absolutely can change that, by not taking them to those situations any more.

Plenty of blame to go around.

Like... if someone shoves someone onto a road and they get hit by a car, but the driver of the car was looking at their phone and would have stopped in time if they had been paying attention, who is to blame? The person who pushed them, or the driver of the car? The "pusher" is MORE to blame but the driver isn't blameless.

They are innocent which is why they should never be weaponised.

I didn't criticise you for anything, I'm more worried that bing is a gateway drug to internet explorer, and it's a long, dark road back from that place.

I just didn't think anyone actually used Bing and was shocked. Most people who aren't bothered about The Man having an eye on them use Google these days. Of course, those of us who are paranoid use DuckDuckGo.

The police are not invisible are they?
So it's ok to ride a horse into the middle of a riot because people will move away... and what then? When they have moved out of the way of the horse, they carry on? Go home?

I still don't understand why a horse aids a riot.

You're against horses being used for anything, including by the police. But refuse to acknowledge the police are responsible for this incident... by bringing a horse?

I don't think even you yourself know where you stand on this issue.

Not a horse in sight here, neither are the police in riot gear...

https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-new...ondon-22154691

Protesters were seen chasing police down a London street after clashes at the Black Lives Matter demonstration left eight officers injured.

Angy scenes erupted in the capital yesterday, with images showing police bleeding on the ground - while some were seen running for safety from crowds.

In the 30-second clip showing police running from a crowds, some are heard swearing at officers while others throw missiles in their direction.

As police are followed through the street, the officers can be seen coming up against other demonstrators after turning a corner.

After a crowd descended on Whitehall, some clambered onto The Cenotaph- a memorial honouring those who lost their lives in war.

Awful people.

What happened to the mobile barricades and water cannons?

There is such a thing as the mounted police unit. It's used for things like crowd control plenty of times at football matches without issue - this should have been another simple crowd control task had the people attending had peaceful intent.

We live in a country where a White Boy from a wealthy family killed a Muslim boy and got out of prison in a few months and all is forgiven . Can we stop trying to bring up someone’s past when discussing their murder? it’s a disgrace.
