Last Jedi was the best of the new trilogy imo, Rise of Skywalker was garbage

The Force Awakens was the best, I think TLJ's biggest issue was that it wasn't a film that could stand on it's own, it was basically a connector between the first and last parts of the trilogy and that was it. It wasn't bad but it wasn't great.

I think in different ways, Rise and TLJ showed a fatal flaw in the handling of the Star Wars franchise, there's no overall narrative plan. Compared to something like the MCU which has an overall narrative timeline planned way in advance, the new Trilogy felt like it was made up as they went along. Rise in particular felt thrown together out of a need to 'course correct' after TLJ when they probably should have just stuck to the direction they were going in.

Suddenly throwing the emperor back into the mix and retconning Rey's origin was just plain dumb.

Force Awakens was literally a rehash of A New Hope, I didn’t like it at all, I agree about TLJ being a bit of a bridge but at least the story was something a bit different

TLJ would have been better without the Rey bits tbh. I don't mean in the same way as the weirdos who made the "no women edit" I guess "No Force Stuff" would be better.

If it was a random sci-fi film about the villains' ship bearing down on the heroes, while some of them try to carry out a heist to disable (whatever it was), then it'd be a fun little romp.

But the most boring woman in the universe farting around with a sad old man just drags it down...
