Nightengale Hospitals to be used for Cancer testing

https://www.msn.com/en-gb/news/coron...rtan-ntp-feeds

Nightingale hospitals will be converted into cancer testing centres in a bid to cope with a backlog in suspected cases, the head of the health service has said.
Sir Simon Stevens said a “radically different” model of testing would be introduced in an attempt to deal with a high volume of patients awaiting tests.
Cancer charities have raised fears this year could see an extra 18,000 deaths from the disease, because of the number of patients who received a later diagnosis, because of the covid crisis.

A really interesting thread if you've got a few mins to have a read.

That is very interesting and goes a long way to explain a couple of things; severity rates in elderly population (elderly people have low T cell count), high levels of asymptomatic and mild cases in children and young people (children have significantly higher T cell counts) and might also explain some of the other "odd" observations, like TB vaccination (TB vax relies on a T-cell generation response).

Either way, it suggests that even in the absence of a vaccine (which unfortunately, the other side of this twitter thread - poor/short term antibody response - suggests is a real possibility) that eventual population immunity of sorts is likely even if it does become widespread. It'll just become less severe over time, rather than vanishing.
