Oh no, I'm English

Wales voted by a minor percentage, and England was always the decider, but yeah, you're right. Fcuking Liam I'd put Norn Iron in the same camp as Scotland too, although they are naturally tied to the motherland

I don't wish to rerun the EU vote.
However the vote itself was a UK wide vote and in that, the result is valid, although a narrow margin. Even of all who voted. However, it was the devising of the vote that was at fault, which is the cause of division in part, in my view. For such a major change of the UKs past and future. One condition should have been, 50% + one vote needed from all eligible to vote. To make it valid. and/or Another condition, with the fact the UK is made up of 4 Nations. It should have been 3 had to vote the same way to validate the referendum. It's irrelevant now however with England having the massively disproportionate share of voters in the UK.. It was always likely the case that however the vote went in England. England would only really decide this referendum. Even had Wales voted remain other than leave. So with Scotland voting by double figure margins to remain along with Northern Ireland too. It's no wonder divisions, suspicion and even dismay have just not gone away. However the blame lies with the then PM Cameron and his failure to ensure the fairest possible vote. You can't have that, when you create the scenario where only the biggest of population and voters of 4 Nations, are able to wipe out the votes and results of the other 3 Nations. As to Johnson in Scotland. I think he may secretly want Scotland to leave the UK. Him going there will for sure, in my view, only likely help to hasten that cause. |

I can't see what way he can use the virus as a positive political weapon for him or the Union.
He's taken England away from and behind the other UK Nations in dealing with it. Nicola Sturgeon has no reason to fear him on that one. He has shown how inept he is all through on this pandemic. His crawling Ministers too. England's record on the pandemic is at best shameful. Nicola Sturgeon has shown endless compassion to the bereaved and massive regret on the losses of lives to this. She's also been totally upfront and honest with her Nation. Of all the UK, she has been the ONLY leader I'd listen to in the context of trusting them. Certainly never Johnson, who, with his Ministers, has presided over nothing much more than deceit all through with the citizens of England and the rest of the UK. Rishi Sunak totally I exclude from that last statement, I wish him well however in carrying on his good and right work.. As I fear, he's going to be reigned well in soon sadly from his more understanding and fairer stance. Last edited by joeysteele; 24-07-2020 at 07:53 AM. |
