How dare the government specifically target areas with high Muslim populations just as Eid is about to start.
They would not do this on Christmas Eve. |

I think what this Pandemic has taught us is that selfishness isn't specified to any religion, race or ethnic group, it's pretty widespread across the board.

We should all be following the same rules, we are all the same, we can all contract it as easily. I can only see that this action is specifically made to target muslims and their eid. |

..the Independent have a good article about this with Matt Hancock thanking the Muslim community for making the changes to their practises this year...it’s obviously not the ideal for anyone atm for many reasons but the sacrifice appears to have been made very willingly by the Muslim community...
![]() Muslims around the world have started the holy month of Ramadan under lockdowns aimed at slowing the spread of the coronavirus pandemic. The holy month typically sees a day-long fast followed by lavish meals and get-togethers in the evening with friends and family, but this year many people have been confined to their homes and mosques have closed. Worshippers have been told to pray at home during the holy month. On Thursday, the health secretary, Matt Hancock, thanked Muslims for their “sacrifice”. ”This Ramadan, many Muslims who serve their country in the NHS and in the armed forces, and in so many other ways, will not be sharing the joy of this month as they normally do,” he said. “I want to say to all British Muslims, thank you for staying at home. I know how important the daily Iftar is, how important communal prayers are at night and how important the Eid festival is. “Thank you for making major changes to these vital parts of your practice and I want to say to you all Ramadan Mubarak. And thank you for your service and citizenship and thank you for your sacrifice.” The Muslim Council of Britain (MCB) has urged the faithful to “pray at home and share Ramadan digitally”. It published guidance saying ”will be a very different experience for Muslims” this year “as we adapt to changing circumstances during the Covid-19 pandemic”. It said it was unlikely there will be “congregational acts of worship for Muslims outside of the home” as mosques remain closed. Those celebrating were instructed to follow the government’s social distancing rules by sharing meals ending fasting (Iftar) with family over FaceTime rather than in person. People have also been advised to be mindful in their shopping habits, planning meals in advance to limit the number of trips, and avoiding stocking up to “allow for everyone to acquire that they need”. https://www.independent.co.uk/news/u...-a9483181.html |

East Lancs/West Yorks are being locked down because of the rising numbers of infections in these areas.
Also, I'm not making any proper plans for Christmas or New Years this year, it's not very likely we will be able to hold them as we usually do. |

Makes it pretty clear no one or body is being victimised, the muslim community on the whole are sensibly following the governments guidelines and advice. So not sure what the OP is talking about tbh?!

Nah

And yet other religions did the same when Churches were closed and various celebrations couldn't take place during lockdown. So wtf are you on about specifically targetting muslims.

It's not in good faith; he's either saying muslims don't want to abide by the rules, or they get special treatment, neither of which are true.

Really not seeing the issue here? Of course some people wont be happy about being restricted, people from all walks of life and religion. You will always get people moaning or flouting the current rules, but it's not limited to any religion or race from what i've seen.

All im saying is it should be 1 rule for all, and not a separate rule specifically targeting our muslim brothers and sisters during their current celebrations.
