in the midst of my thoughts when watching BB5. so far this seems like the most UK-like season for me, the twists, these housemates seem to care a lot more about personal issues then ‘game play moves’.

Finally wrapped the last remaining seasons in time for All Stars! Only took me 7 years
Finished the ~infamous~ BB14 and it's a fun watch! I'll get the inevitable controversial opinion out of the way, I think this is Boogie's best season? Honestly never cared for him before but I found him lowkey amusing at times (and to laugh at, aka Britney's goodbye message ). And I know this is also unpopular but I think his game is kinda underrated? He was in a pretty good position until the reset, no wonder he was pissed lol I think it's interesting to watch this season through the lens of "how Dan loses" though, I imagine if I'd watched it live I'd have been much more disappointed in his loss but it's clear he overplayed quite a lot. Not to take anything away from the moves themselves because as spectacles they're great in isolation, just not so much for the jurors! I think I preferred the "throw the Veto to Britney/Shane" plan the week of his Funeral personally, also not sure why he didn't force a tie to get Ian to vote out Frank, don't think he needed the DE HoH either, and a few other things. But still - some great TV, especially THAT look when Shane got voted out Oh and I was surprised by how endearing I found Ian! I'm kinda looking forward to seeing him again tbh |

Few other random musings:
- Lane is one of the worst houseguests ever and I don't think this gets talked about enough? His DR's were worryingly aggressive with violent metaphors (actually a lot of the BB12 DR's wouldn't make it to air nowadays, lots of talk of "I want to kill myself" etc) - BB12 Rachel > BB13 Rachel. The Pandora's Box at F6 was outrageous lmao, Shelly robbed - Ashley's DE speech in BB14 has to be one of the worst ever? A scream |

If you think Lane was bad just watching the show, google "Lane BB12 eight second game" or something along those lines

Rewatched BB16 last week ahead of All Stars. Many people seem to hate it but it's one of my favourites. I actually liked the Battle of the Block twist (as a one off for the season) and that they had a twist that didn't end when the jury began, and it was just full of generally entertaining people, even if they did annoy you. I hated Frankie all over again, but his Battle of the Block victory is probably my favourite episode of BBUSA ever.

16 is a season I marginally enjoyed at the time (although BotB is the worst twist of all time) but looking back it’s had so many detrimental effects on future seasons
So I think I hate it |

Yeah, I just can't get there with 16 and I think it miiiiiight be the worst season of anything ever. Battle of the Block completely stifled any shift in power and just allowed a majority alliance to steamroll in the most boring way possible and said majority alliance was full of dullards and gross people.
I found the Frankie Battle of the Block win to be particularly egregious and painful because 1) production wouldn't let Caleb reenter the Competition once he sat down and that resulted in the opposite of his desired effect, and 2) it's ****ing Frankie

Watched BB10 over the last 2 weeks! I must say I thoroughly enjoyed it. The cast made me HOWL with laughter at times. The way they would go from screaming at each other and threatening each other to being pals within minutes <3 The female cast was almost flaw free with the exception of the dud that is Angie and I appreciated the greatness of some of the men, eg. Dan and Jerry. Keesha was my favourite though. An icon! I was ecstatic she won America's Favourite Juror. I didn't really hate anybody in this cast, I just didn't quite love around half of them but like I said before I did appreciate quite a lot of them for what they brought to the season and the moments they created. I wasn't quite sold on Dan's strategy until the final very few episodes when I realised he had played a pretty decent game although it annoyed me that he and Memphis spent most of the time patting themselves on the back as if they'd played alone as a duo when they would have never made it as far without Keesha and Renny (who I ADORE by the way ). Libra I feel wasn't given enough credit either as I felt she controlled literally the first 4 evictions until Michelle got her out. Speaking of which, Michelle winning HOH and Keesha's birthday were ICONIC bits of television and episodes like that is what make this cast so special. I really enjoyed Michelle as a player/houseguest despite her mainly going against my favourites and I felt she could have made it even further had she picked the correct alliance. I found Jerry quite bizarre although some of the stuff he did would make me cackle. YOU'RE GOING HOME! and WITH LOW HONOURS April and Ollie weren't rootable or investable enough at all as a showmance and it says a lot that I ship Keesha and Dan way more than them who weren't even a thing until post show! Jessie was a paranoid mess and he was quite entertaining in Keesha's HOH week when he was on the block but I just found him too jarring to properly like although I know he came back and was better on the following season. Obviously Brian played too hard too fast (although he was very hot!) and Angie and Steven were just meh. But overall I thought this season was amazing and I'm glad I chose it for my first dabble into BBUS!
BB10 Rankings 1. Keesha 2. Michelle 3. Renny 4. Dan 5. Libra 6. April 7. Jerry 8. Memphis 9. Ollie 10. Jessie 11. Brian 12. Angie 13. Steven Onto BB6 next! |

Back to Battle of the Block and one thing I thought of if it was ever revived how it could be used, either instead of or alongside the Veto, to throw a wrench into the HoH's plans and make nominations more interesting and tactical. Basically have the HoH nominate three people, those three play the Battle of the Block, the winner saves themselves - but then gets to name their replacement. The Veto could then play out as usual, perhaps being one of the three gets saved regardless to leave the two nominees.
Would just be nice to see a twist than actually throws a wrench in the plan for the weeks. As quite rightly mentioned BB16 seemed to set in place the idea of the house blindly following the HoH week after week, so I think a game mechanism which gives people another option would be a good thing moving forward. Personally I think post-All Stars is the opportunity for almost a BB2 style revamp of the show. Keep HoH, Nominations and the Eviction vote as the core process, but time to shake the rest up with a regular new comp for the Sunday show (even if it's just going back to the Food Comps) and then the Veto is long overdue a revamp or overhaul of some kind. They made tweaks every year after it debuted in BB3 through to BB7 All Stars, but this All Stars series highlights the fact the game play behind the Veto hasn't changed at all in 15 series, and it's time it did really.

At long last, I got around to finishing the first week of BB4. I didn't post anything when I did the premiere a couple weeks ago because I didn't think the houseguests had done enough to warrant enough of an opinion off me, but I know what I think now
Week 1 (Scott walks; Amanda Evicted) 1. Alison 2. Dana 3. David 4. Jun 5. Erika 7. Michelle 8. Jee 9. Jack 10. Nathan 11. Justin 12. Robert |
