The matchmaking is poor because it bumps you up to a higher league based on number of games played rather than estimating actual skill. I could compete well in the tier I was in and it was fun then got bumped up a tier and it was boring because I don't have enough time to play to Gut Gud enough at a game like Rocket League and continue to compete at higher levels.
