...when people cant afford to support charities on their lower wage or lost incomes then there will be nothing soon enough, Arista...and the reason for that lays in one place only...the government who voted for that nothing...you think that’s okay and fine because somehow they’ll get by on nothing...?...someone who has nothing themselves will come along and feed them...?...school staff out of their own purses and own funding have given breakfast to some of their children for many, many years...and rather than address that and right it...?...the government have voted no to lunch as well...‘Better than nothing and hoping for others to step in, in any small capacity’...is not how a country is run or can thrive and you absolutely know that, sir...

Very disappointing, it was only to be extended to next Easter so just an extra 5 weeks, it would have been a decent gesture

Yes some special needs kids are, though.

Food can be delivered any day

Obviously no child should go without meals, but as usual, this being a predominately labour supporting forum membership, the full story is not being portrayed. It's par for the course unfortunately

...let’s not divert it to ‘left and right’ as well when it’s about children...there is no left or right for children and their sustenance...

That’s a pretty bull**** way of thinking.

Given the current global situation, I think it’s safe to say that times are hard and even harder for some whose situations were dire before even the pandemic.

...oh will you stop that, Arista...the only ‘loss’ being felt is by our children...those children are our future elections of whatever government...and as the saying goes...‘lest they forget‘ that their government were happy to hand them over to a charity as you’ve suggested is fine and dandy...

It shouldn't be anyone against anyone.
The only right thing to do was carry on doing what was being done for a few extra weeks.

Any decent government,no matter its make up would and should have wanted to do that anyway.

What speaks volumes are those who would want to make political points, as you say this is Con v Lab, by deliberately voting against adding a few extra weeks to this scheme, ordering it to be voted down.

I'm surprised at your stance but never mind there it is I guess, its your stance.

If charities have to take on much more with NO further aid from those in power, then charities will be broken too.

This was a scandalous result of the vote in the Commons.
You yourself said it was sadly lost.

You were right, it was sadly lost and who ensured it was lost.
I leave that for you to work out.

If labour ever decide to vote not to feed hungry children, I’ll rag on them too, however seeing as they haven’t, I can’t quite understand what you want people to say?

For a bit of balance for bots

This is a decent Tory, still a Tory, but not as bad as the other Tories.

Exactly, not really worth giving other opinions as you only get veiled insults.

So what’s the full story guys? How is any other party also at fault for this decision?
