Most of the standard vaccines (childhood vax schedule, travel vaccinations etc.) were not developed in the UK. I understand not trusting the Chinese government, but I don't think a vaccine has to be specifically UK-developed to be trustworthy.

every vaccine has to gain approval in each country before its approved for use by the public in that country. That's why the Astra Zenika is going through clinical trials throughout the world. For a chinese vaccine to be approved for use in the UK, it would need to go through the process too, so .... no drug should be able to get to the public before its known to be safe

Vulnerable people/healthcare workers etc do take vaccines for flu (and anyone can pay for one privately if they want one) ... But anyway, it's highly unlikely that Covid vaccines will be rolled out for less-at-risk categories (under 40's with no underlying conditions) for a long time, if ever. There are limitations on how quickly they can manufacture vaccine doses once/if one is developed so they will be on a priority basis for a long time. Full coverage isn't necessarily required for herd immunity, also.

As safe as possible*, there is no such thing as a 100% safe drug or vaccine.

I saw a program suggesting vaccines usually take around 5 years + to develop and properly test ... I worry that they’re cutting sooo many corners to get them in circulation ( so to speak lol) .

they are being fast tracked, but the chemistry behind them is proven over decades so that reduces risk significantly. I do agree though that getting the shot will require a leap of faith

My sister just told me that in Italy bars and restaurants have to close at 6 pm.
That's way too early.

Discussions are underway among officials in Whitehall and local authorities for a "plan B" to drive Covid-19 infection rates down if the current three-tiered lockdown system fails to work, iNews reported.

Under tier three, pubs and bars that do not serve substantial meals are required to close, as are casinos, adult gaming centres, and soft play centres.

Non-essential shops can remain open under tier three restrictions.

Extra tier three-plus or potential tier four restrictions could mean restaurants and non-essential shops are forced to close.

Schools will not be permitted to close under any potential tier-four measures.

Schools not permitted to close even under tier 4????

Why????

Do they think pupils and staff are indestructible. Because my daughter is still isolating after a supply teacher tested postive

Also you should see the amount of school kids that get on buses etc at home time, no regard for anyone else on the bus whatsover.

Then you think of the amount of parents on the school run.

All these parents work with a lot of other people

Thats a lot of intermingling "bubbles"

Your not closing schools?? Dont bother with a tier 4!

I heard a worrying stat this morning .. supposedly the infection rate in schools has risen by SEVENTEEN fold in the 6 weeks 1st September to 14th October .

If doubling is a 100% increase ... times by 17 sounds horrifying .

Supposedly the schools want to move to some kind of rota so at any one time - half of pupils are being taught in school whilst the other half will be taught online ..
