Well no, the USA's voting system means that the decision isn't made by the overpopulated states for everyone else. But whatever the system is, him not winning the popular vote means most of the country wouldn't want him to win

Weird way of framing it. Overpopulated states?

California has 2 senators to represent 40m people.

There are 2 senators to represent south dakota and 900,000 people

There are also 2 senators to represent north dakota and just under 900,000 people.

So dakota gets 4 senators to represent 1.8 million people, and california gets 2 for 40m people. The issue in the US has always been one of too few people having too much power over the many.
