Sky did say that there’s gonna be no food entering the country for at least two weeks and that will effect the supermarket shelves ..

The new strain is probably everywhere already. It's been detected in the Netherlands and Denmark.

It's understandable they'd wanna take measures to stop it spreading worldwide, at least we've let everyone know as soon as we found out, unlike China

it's already in most countries around the world, they just don't know it yet. The UK is a world leader in genome sequencing, hence we discovered it quickly, other countries just dont have the tech to identify it

Honestly I'll eat my hat if the new strain actually originated in the UK. Its not a coincidence that it's spread out from London; the UK's main hub of international travel.

dutch people are apparently stuck in england, but we won't bring back our people, with potentially germs of the new strain

There is no way the virus has only mutated here....it will be ripping through every country where the virus is prevalent. A huge second wave world wide is imminent and governments everywhere need to get a handle on it now we have identified it

Pretty sure they've already had cases in Northern Ireland so I'd be surprised if it's not in the rest of Ireland too. Pointless banning flights here to and from the UK when we still have an open border between the Republic and NI anyway

There are cases in The Netherlands and Denmark and it's been confirmed that this strain has been circulating since September. I feel that really they must already know that it's seeded across Europe at the very least and they're clutching at straws.

to me it starts to make much more sense now why certain regions had so much trouble bringing the infection rates down. My own area was way below the national average until the last lockdown when it suddenly shot up, it doesn't make any sense unless there was another variable at play.

I think the reason its gone crazy in the likes of California, Germany and Italy, is exactly the same reason

it's all about perception, the populations would be going crazy if borders were left open.

I'm more or less convinced it came from continental Europe and has been doing the rounds in tandem with the original strain since before September. It was first identified in September but the cases were so low over summer that it could easily have been flying under the radar since May.

But yes, I agree - it is odd that despite having the same or similar restrictions everywhere, some regions have had infection rates come down very easily while others are "stubbornly high".

Maybe it didn’t originate in the uk .. maybe we were just the first to identify it ??

Is that a possibility ??
