Default London's labour mayor raises council tax

Whilst we all sit at home unable to use the amenities we pay for.

Your thoughts on this?

Shame Rory dropped out of the mayoral race, he probably could have snatched it from Khan't.

I don't live in London, however I think Khan has done a very poor job.

Then the people I know in London, think otherwise and intend to support him still.

I personally think Council Tax is already too high across the country, and the way its calculated is outdated and ridiculous. It should be based on combined household income, not a bizarre lottery of property-worth guesswork.

I honestly can't pinpoint one thing he had done as Mayor that has actually benefitted Londoners

https://secretldn.com/elizabeth-line-delayed/

4 Years delayed and I won't be surprised if 2022 is shifted again because...Covid

Well, here’s a little rundown of the whole Crossrail saga. In July 2018, bright-eyed and full of hope, we brought you the news of the Crossrail’s official opening date, slated for December 2018. Yet a month later, the opening was announced to be delayed by about nine months. The, two days after the original opening date, we told you that it wasn’t looking likely until at least 2020. In April 2019, the news was that it might be delayed until 2021. Then, in November 2019, news came that it had definitely been delayed until 2021 – and what’s more, the project was set to run as much as £650 million over budget. In August 2020, with a pandemic between us and that latest development, news arrived that Crossrail now won’t be finished until 2022, and will require an extra £1.1 billion to complete. Today, we learned that the beleaguered project has been given an extra £825 million in funding in order to push the final phase of Crossrail to completion.

We were considering a house to rent a few months back, right on the edge of our budget but doable... Until we found out that the council tax was going to be £3100. Just insane and pushed the property out of what would be affordable without having to give up loads of other comforts. Nearly £300/month

It'd probably be high regardless of which party is in charge, it would be pure naivete to think that it would be lower under a tory mayor.

The whole system needs overhauling, but it never will.

I think we would all be happy to contribute if we could see a return on our tax, but given there is nada there is that.

Yeah that's part of my issue too... Roads covered in potholes and bin collections every three weeks (which in summer I personally think is verging on a health hazard). Currently it's only something like £1400 (I think we're band C or something like that) which I still begrudgingly pay but asking for double that is just a joke.

Could only imagine how high it would be if a Tory was the mayor
