Default Battery life on phone

So I unplugged my phone this morning and left it on the side all day , didn't use it until I checked it at 4pm and suddenly my battery life drastically had gone from 90% to 5% all by itself!!! .

I hadn't even used it for the juice to go down so rapidly, has anyone else heard of this?? .

I then immediately put it to charge again, and now it's on 97%. I hope there isn't a problem with my battery .

I think you need a new battery.

Turn your phone off and then on again. This can fix that type of issue sometimes

Have you checked your settings...you may have turned something on inadvertently.

It's not Samsung no , but it's android .

I haven't switched it on and off yet, maybe I'll try that . I read somewhere that I should of let the battery die and then start from scratch ? Not sure if that works.

And no I haven't changed any settings, my brightness was actually on low .

you should run your battery down to zero once a month or so to recondition the battery as a matter of housekeeping

Yh I’d more than likely say that the battery is probably knackered and needs replacing especially if it’s an older phone. My old IPhone 6 has this issue, I won’t even use the phone and the battery life would drop from like 80% to something like 15%. Also sometimes the phone would be on 30% and just die straight away so I’d need to plug the charger in to turn on the phone again and then when it finally turns back on, it’d be on 20% or something random .

I never bothered to replace the battery tho because I ended up getting a newer phone and I only use the old one for music now.

Will no doubt be apps draining it.

Mine was doing this, mind my battery is crap to start with. But it was going MUCH faster., like a full charge was lasting 3 hours instead of the usual 8. Turned out it was some roblox thing the kids had downloaded, taking like..80% of my battery life over an hour, despite not actually being active :S

Would agree with Vicky that apps are probably running in the background and draining it

Go to device care in settings (or similar) to check

If it keeps doing it don't keep recharging it until you check if you've got a swollen battery (they literally "puff up" when their physical integrity is compromised) and definitely DO NOT mess with it yourself if the battery is damaged. Charging it can cause it to explode, and accidentally piercing the battery WILL cause it to explode/release toxic gasses unless the battery has been run down to under 5%. The more charge the battery has the bigger the explosion if it pops.
