Why are TV shows & movies still making prison rape and sexual harassment jokes ?.
I thought we'd moved on from the 80s, 90s and even early 00s. It's also making light of assault on a whole when it comes to women victims. Can't writers get more creative and stop repeating the same tiresome cringy jokes . This is an interesting article from a survivor's point of view https://www.pbs.org/newshour/show/co...ial-rape-jokes |

She's also a survivor of abuse ,not just a comic.
She talks about people joking about assault who have never experienced it . And there's a ton of TV and movies that use assault as a cheap gag . 30 rock It's always sunny in Philadelphia Get hard Horrible bosses Get him to the Greek Just to name a few |

I'm well aware of humour .
But most of the jokes are not funny and it's poorly written and cringy . Especially when it's the constant repetitive theme. |

Maybe compromise? Jokes that you don't like get removed, in return for something that you really like being removed? Last edited by Alf; 28-04-2021 at 12:43 AM. |

I do understand what you mean, especially in the sense that "male rape in prison" is seen as a source of humour in a way it never would be when discussing rape of women.
Eastenders does it an awful lot. |

Yeah It's also used as a way of revenge and punishment . For e.g in action movies and crime drama's, if the suspect isn't giving cops the information they need then they get threatened with "if you don't cooperate then enjoy your time in prison dropping the soap" and blah blah .

You get away with a lot of bigoted language on this forum, usually because you seem to not "mean it", but all of these notes you add onto the end give away the fact you know full well there's no need to refer to her as the "lesbo lady" but do so anyway.
