…Buster’s Mal Heart……I can’t say this wasn’t totally absorbing because it absolutely was, it had me gripped from the beginning and all of the way through…Rami Malek was disturbingly excellent……but I’ll continue to think what it was about …not just the ending but all of it, the whole story…or three stories, I should say…how they all joined together in their meanings….
…7/10, it was a hugely absorbing story and performance from Rami…. …(…I just don’t have a hugely big understanding of it atm…)… |

The Father.
A mesmerising performance from Anthony Hopkins. The movie belongs to him. Olivia Coleman also brilliant. Because of Anthony : 10/10

Netflix is awash with those cheap "strange woman has come into our family and she turns out to be not who she says she is" movies for some reason.
Ended up watching one called Inconceivable. Has to be one of the worst films I've ever seen. Nicholas Cage I refuse to believe he's that hard up for money that he needed to do this film and yet, he managed to get through it all looking as bored as I was. Strange woman moves in, he's bored, his wife becomes paranoid, he's bored, his child is in danger, he's bored, his wife is stabbed, he's bored. |

Rocketman - 8/10
When it started it wasn't what I expected - didn't realise it was an actual musical type deal so that took a while to get used to, but really enjoyed it. Taron's such a brilliant character actor. What a crazy life old Elton has had! Last edited by LaLaLand; 16-06-2021 at 10:29 PM. |

…it was such a well done movie to incorporate so much of his music…I’m so glad that he overcame his addictions and I’m so glad that David became part of his life and that they have their beautiful family now…through everything, still standing…?……

Luca
It was very cute, and while it doesn't do anything new, it's a solid Pixar film. It's not one of their all time greats but it's a fun little film in it's own right. I think my main issue with it is that it felt like something was missing from the story. It really kind of felt like the first half of the film was setting up Luca and/Alberto as LGBT characters, the queer coding was abundant. I can only assume that someone got cold feet and decided against it, which is a shame, but it doesn't ruin the film. It would have definitely elevated it if that was the case though, and would have probably made the film a must watch for many LGBT kids out there. Still, I can only judge what was in the film, not what wasn't and the film was still very heartfelt and cute. 7/10 |

…The Dead Don’t Die…….I’m pretty sure this has some pretty awful reviews but I really liked it, the cast was tremendous and even though there was a lot of non zombie action and the zombie life was a bit underused etc…that just allowed to really appreciate the well thought out characters and how the actors fitted them perfectly….So many of the lines and dialogue in there I’m sure is something that will be repeated and repeated as ‘iconic quotes’ ….Bill Murray, Tilda Swinton, Adam Driver, Steve Buscemi, Chloë Sevigny, Danny Glover…the superb cast just goes on and on….quirky, enjoyable, head severing fun…8/10…

no idea what attracted such talented actors to the script, it felt so forced and half of them came out looking so pretentious. The traveller characters were underused, it would have been nice to see more interaction between them and the locals, but they literally introduced them and then killed them off screen. Utterly pointless. What was the point in the juvy kids? I don't even remember what happened to them - are we meant to believe they managed to escape the detention center filled with zombies? Mindy was one of the dumbest characters I think I have ever seen in a horror movie. Tilda Swinton was great but incredibly underused and the alien ship taking her made me cringe, could imagine the script writer writing it and thinking how quirky they were too. The hardware store stand off was moronic. We get told this guy (I love Danny Glover but ouch) had owned the store for YEARS but never thought to reinforce the back exit to his store? Come on now. The 'zombies go back to what they remember' crap was forced down the viewers throat so heavily, and I get that, Dawn of the Dead did it beautifully showing our consumerism, this movie hammered it home but they did it SO badly. So zombies return to what they know? Okay...why did they overrun the motel? The owner literally said it was nor busy but the zombies went there? Plus...them Zelda was beamed up why were there zombies standing in a field? Anyways yeah I watch so much horror but passed this initially in theaters because I don't like Adam Driver and it has to be one of the worst zombie comedy's I have ever had to suffer through. 1/10
