It hasn't hit my area to hard yet. I think yesterday's high was about 34 today is 35... and it's suppose to increase daily till Friday. We aren't expected to get into the 40s. That being said, I work at a greenhouse so the heat I was working in yesterday was much higher than 40. Normally I could hide in the air conditioned office but we had a tropical order arrive from Miami so it was a hot day for sure.
I don't know what the cooling temperatures on the coast would be, but I did live in BC for 8 years and they are not typically use to those high temperatures. They are more of a rainforest climate so it just doesn't get hot, it gets muggy and hot. We get temps like this every summer in my region. Air conditioning units are in most buildings, but not all homes. Especially not the for low income. But yes, people do flock to the water to cool down. I was hoping to get some paddleboarding in myself this weekend.
