Still basically impossible to find an RTX3080 for less than about £1250 which is just insane. The best you can reliably find at an actual retailer is a 3060ti, which is a slight improvement as those were scarce too at one point... but a 3060ti is basically only on par with the GTX1080ti I already have, other than it being able to do ray tracing to some extent (not even well) .

I'm considering giving up on the desktop for a couple of years, trade in for maybe an RTX2070 laptop and just do the bulk of my gaming on PS5.

You might find this interesting about Amazons RPG frying graphics cards!

I'd actually heard about 3090's popping a while back when they were first released... people were recommending just going with the 3080 because of the high power drain and risk with the 90.

Interesting that he mentioned Horizon ZD towards the end there though - I gave that a go on the PC when it released last year to see how it compared to the PS4 (I played that to 100% back in 2017) ... but I stopped about 20 minutes in because I was getting serious framerate stutters and a few crashes-to-desktop, and actually one full system crash which just doesn't really happen these days. It's the only "bluescreen" I've seen in years. Maybe I'm lucky it didn't fry the card
