Are cases rising similarly in scotland, because they have covid passports and mandatory face masks. If those measures actually made a difference, their infection rate should be right down

honestly those measures make a difference, as we look over in Germany where there are still quite a lot of people wearing face masks, distancing and having the covid passports for events

and their cases are still very low

unlike my nation Netherlands, new cases numbers have increased with 44% compared to last months, and hospitalisation total here again at over 610 total despite high rate of vaccinations either

Thing is for me, even if those measures help short-term they are simply not sustainable as a solution. We wont eradicate it. And cases will spike each time measures are released. The only way forward I see is to stop the fannying about and focus on the most at risk groups and offering them vaccination. Thats the best thing we can do. We cannot fight nature, and its kinda arrogant to assume we can. and even if we could, should we? All that will happen (in my mind anyway) is something else worse will be borne of our need to play god and eradicate death and disease.

There is an ever growing list of countries that are stopping travel to the UK because of our infection rate. So I would think that will affect government strategy

The delta variant is hardly new.....

Im assuming the flu jabs still not doing its job anymore, and the covid excuse is still rampant.

there is the Delta plus variant that is now circulating and that is having an impact on infection rates. However, the vaccines are still effective against it

[Health secretary warns cases could go
as high as 100,000 a day

He says hospitalisations are around 1,000 a day.
Sajid Javid said although deaths are "mercifully low",
they are still around 100 a day.

"This virus will be with us for the long term
and it remains a threat," he adds.

He says the government
won't be implementing its "Plan B" of contingency
measures "at this point".]

How do those of us over 60 stand as regards getting a booster ??

I’m in good health so presumably I won’t be offered a booster even though my last vaccine jab was nearly 6 months ago

Does this mean I’m going to be without decent protection for the dangerous period ahead ??

Take your NHS number with you
plus the Card with the 2 Jabs,
go to your nearest centre.

Ask for your 3rd Jab

They could be a number 4 Jab in another 6 months.

Interesting to hear that young people are NOW at significant risk from Covid if they have had no vaccinations ... when did this storyline change ??

Doesn’t seem that long ago we were being told the young folk and children weren’t at risk at all

When most of the actual vulnerable people were vaccinated of course. Suddenly it became this huge horrible thing for the rest of the population, after we were told most werent at risk, and definitely not children

Some are not getting letters.

So you can still go
so long as you have the Card with the last date
and you have your NHS number.
They give you the same vaccine.

Many Places are now Walk In
as well as appointments.

[How bad do hospital admissions have to
get per day before you bring in 'Plan B'?

Thomas Moore, Sky's science correspondent,
also asks about the antivirals announced
as potential treatments.

Replying to the first question, Sajid Javid says
"everyone is right to be concerned"
but that the focus "very much remains on Plan A",
adding: "Those vaccines are working."

He continues: "We monitor this daily.
It's not just one particular number
that we are looking at."

As well as hospitalisations the government
is looking at the pressure on the NHS
"across the board", he adds.

On antivirals, he claims they
are a "really new, fresh tool in our armour".]
