[New Year's eve on a knife edge: PM to rule on
new restrictions on Monday as scientists predict any new curbs on socialising could be in place until late MARCH - while London's daily Covid hospital admissions surge by 92% The PM is set to review the latest Covid figures on Monday as further restriction could be imposed before NYE Covid hospital admissions in London are within touching distance of the threshold of 400 for a lockdown Ministers are said to be watching admission rates in London before pulling the trigger on more national curbs] But the next 2 Days there are no Guide Numbers [The modelling has not yet been seen by ministers, who are expected to make a decision early next week, potentially as soon as Monday, on extra restrictions. The work was completed before the latest data suggesting the Omicron variant may produce less severe illness than the Delta strain of coronavirus. A consensus paper by the Scientific Pandemic Influenza Group on Modelling, Operational sub-group (Spi-M-O) published today said 'rapidly enacted Step 2 measures reduce the peak of hospital pressure to about half its level under Plan B only'. It also included a model examining the impact 'non-mandated behaviour change' would have if it reduced mixing by half the amount that Step 2 would achieve.] https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...ons-surge.html Last edited by arista; 25-12-2021 at 12:04 AM. |

The thing about this new data modelling is that it’s apparently based on 131 patients !?!? That’s not a number I would trust tbh Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |

Yes, a larger amount infected but many could be the milder Omicron Variant, of course We need Delta amounts and Omicron Amounts Ch4HDnews stated the numbers are incomplete Last edited by arista; 28-12-2021 at 05:43 PM. |

The problem is that even if they are the omicron variant which may or may not be milder there is still the chance of a huge number of hospitalisations ... For arguments sake ... if 10 % of Delta need hospitalisations whilst only 2% of Omicron need hospital treatment BUT there’s 10 times more infections (130,000 just today ) then that’s still double the ACTUAL number of people taking up hospital beds . But we don’t know for sure how this variant is gonna play out . The first stats for it were apparently 11/12/21 which is just over two weeks ago .. The data the government have been looking at was based on just 132 Omicron patients which is bollox imho Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |

The number of patients requiring oxygen, the important stat, is going down, and the overwhelming majority of those are patients with delta Last edited by bots; 28-12-2021 at 09:33 PM. |
