Middle-aged is neither intended to be derogatory, nor is it a generational term .

All I meant is that the people left are not the young'uns (except Oliver, but he has the soul of a 60 year old) and also no one is actually OLD old except Arista, who is as far as I can tell timeless, and may be several hundred (or thousand?) years old.

The average age has massively increased... I guess would be another way to phrase it. That seems pretty clear. AGAIN it's not a complaint, just an observation!
