Default Right you Slackers : 4 weeks to get a Job : New Rules

[As we move out of the pandemic,
with restrictions lifted and life returning
to normal, the ‘Way to Work’ campaign
will focus on getting job-ready people off Universal Credit
and into work,
rapidly filling vacancies which are at a record high.]

Official Gov. Statement

https://www.gov.uk/government/news/n...-000-into-work

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-60149016

From Thursday, people will have to look outside their
sectors after just four weeks, rather than three months.

If they fail to make "reasonable efforts" to
get a job, or turn down employment,
they could see their benefit payment reduced.

I am sorry if this sounds tough
But us working tax payers
demand this.

Four weeks is enough , people shouldn’t just ‘stick to their sector’, as we have seen there are shortages everywhere.

And even if you do get a job in a sector you don’t like, you can always look for another one whilst you’re making more money in that job than you would get on reduced benefit payments.

Problem is a job that a 20 year old living at home with no one but themselves to think about may not be suitable to a 35 year old with kids and a mortgage?

If only the bosses at these work places hired the people that were best for the job and not their mates then this would be a good idea.

Plus making more jobs wouldn't be too bad either.

The jobs are not there and are going to become even less as places that took on for covid cover, will now be laying off those they took on, with isolation times going steadily down and stuff. This will be a lot of people. I know so many on temp contracts for this very reason. Ontop of this, the xmas surge is only just over, so many places will have a surplus, if anything rather than need staff.

I'm thinking about going on this Universal credit, if they allow me to. How do I go about it? Do I do it online?

Last time I was on the dole it was jobseekers allowance and you had to go into the job centre to claim it.

I was on it for about 6 months when I was 23, with our first baby on the way. That was a truly great chapter of my life, not stressful at all .

If that is the case
then the Money can still be paid.

However, if there is job
and the person is refusing the work
then they can, insist that person takes it.

There is a huge candidate shortage at the moment. This is the first January ever in 23 years in recruitment where we have had more jobs than candidates available. I speak with recruiters in various sectors every day and they are all saying the same thing. Its a very candidate driven market at the moment but that bubble will pop eventually.

I don't like the sound of forcing people to apply for any job outside your skills set, it will lead to people in jobs they hate....which in turn drives down productivity for the employer and after the last 2 years could have a massive toll on mental health.

The Gov are desperately trying to recoup cash and cook the unemployment figures.

i think it comes from the government thinking everyone is a middle manager where moving sectors is fine. Anyone with specialised skills would be mad to move into something else after 4 weeks
