Columns of military vehicles including tanks and armoured personnel carriers have been seen on the outskirts of Donetsk, the capital of one of two breakaway regions of eastern Ukraine, according to a Reuters witness.

No insignia were visible, but the appearance of the vehicles came hours after Putin signed friendship treaties with the two separatist regions and ordered Russian troops to deploy on what Moscow called a peacekeeping operation.

Reuters reporters in Donetsk had not seen tanks on the streets in previous days.

and it are indeed peace troops like they say, to prevent further bloodshed in the donetsk, lugansk regions, since the Ukrainian government has the intent to invade those regions with help from the west


so they are simply protecting those two regions, keeping citizens homes safe rather than their citizens having to flee into russian territory

Ukraine wanted to invade those two specific regions, and Zelensky continuing with his ''sad victim act'' which of course UK, USA easily fall for, because of the neverending stereotype that russia are always seen as the villains


what was russia supposed to do then, allow the ukrainian government to march into those regions, and possibly murdering lots of people, destroying lots of homes, we can't have people fleeing their homes into russian territory, Putin is right to defend these people's homes, and recognize those two regions their independence

this isnt just about ukraine, this is about retaking all of what was the soviet union. There will be a fairly large section of the population in favour of this because they have been indoctrinated since birth that their poor standards of living are all the fault of the west

Would any of those old enough to remember the 80s say those goings-on did make it feel like war was imminent?Did it feel the same then as now?

the soviet union was on it's knees in the 80's so not a realistic threat. The late 60's and 70's were very dangerous times
