At this point it's not even just "the poor", between the NI rise, utilities going up 50% (and that's just the start) and the soaring fuel prices, households are going to be down easily £300/month. I don't know many people who wouldn't feel that. No it's not as dire as starving or having to go without heating - but there'll be some clear impacts. People have a tendency to "expand into their money" i.e. have a bigger car loan/bigger mortgage/higher rent the more they earn and other financial committments... it's certainly not just those on low income who will struggle to find an extra £300 that isn't already tied up.

Putin isn't really having the effect on our cost of living you've been lead to believe. If Russia didn't invade, we'd be having the exact same conversation about the CoL crisis.
