You need to scrap your fixed-rate direct debit and go on variable rate. Some people are being set daft new DD's of £700+ a month.

[edit to add] Realistically though yes after October, expect to pay double what you've been paying, unless you cut usage.

oh its not that bad I will be having a chat with them though to explain why the rise is higher than 54%

They set the DD wo be spread out over 12 months and this 54% rise is only until October. After October there will be another larger rise. The increase is to cover that.

For us realistically we can cover it doubling or even tripling (which would be insane, given my bill is already £155 a month) as we're both set for promotions in April but I swear to god... it's ****ing demoralising to get promotions and pay rises just for half of them to be wiped out by energy bills and car costs. Working harder and more responsibility just to tread water.

what is confusing me it says the DD is for what prices are now....so the likelihood is it will rise again in Oct that is what I need to confirm with them, if it stays at what they have set it at its insane but doable..

my gas is fixed, so no problem there, i am on standard tariff for elec because a fixed tariff price was just insane. I think my rate rise is about 50% or so, certainly not significantly more than that
