i dont think its a win when p&o will have to pay minimum wage to all their new hires if the want to dock in the uk. Its also not a win when they have had to shell out a fortune in redundancy payments and now wont have cheap labour

[P&O Ferries faces a probe into the controversial
no-notice sackings of nearly 800 members of staff.
The Insolvency Service has launched criminal
and civil investigations into the circumstances
around the redundancies.
In a letter, it said it would consider
"prompt and appropriate action"
if the law was broken.
Grant Shapps has also asked the service
to consider disqualifying its boss from
acting as a company director.]

[Mr Hebblethwaite said he would not step down.
He said he felt compelled "to discharge my duties for
this historical company" and provide
"the effective operation of the trade routes upon
which this country depends".

"I will therefore continue to do my utmost
to ensure that this company has a sustainable
business for the future."

[Ferry passengers heading to France are facing
long queues amid disruption to cross-Channel services
from Dover to Calais and Dunkirk.
The delays affecting all DFDS services were
blamed on a shortage of ferries and
bad weather yesterday and overnight.]

[It was made worse after a DFDS ship
hit a berth in Dunkirk on Thursday
evening due to high winds and had
to be taken out of service,
according to the owner.
Capacity at the Port of Dover was already
under strain following the suspension
