To clarify I’m a flat “no” on medical intervention (I.e. hormones and puberty blockers) and also on unquestioning acceptance; open conversations should definitely be had about what’s going on generally in kids lives. I’m also a flat no on the bathrooms issue.
But I’m also not up for teachers pointedly ignoring kids who want to present whichever way/change their name or whatever… basically just because that’s also overstepping as a teacher. Again I’d draw the line at the neo-pronouns because that’s the point for me where it stops being about gender identity and starts being about hyperindividualism. I mean… having your own special pronouns actually goes against the entire shorthand function and purpose OF a pronoun… you might as well just have no pronouns and always refer by name. |
