Agreed.
If she had won and not had cancer, what would they say?
she won because she's old? australian? white?
ridiculous.

&Yeah.
What Billy said.
Rihanna's songs did come out ages before Kylie's.

What annoys me is that people claim she's "amazing" and an "inspiration" for getting through breast cancer, whilst there's millions of woman with breast cancer who don't have all that money to pay for the treatment, and who don't have the international support and are able to get the top doctors in the world. Surely those women are more inspirational than Kylie and deserve to be called so more than her?
Explain me how ? Because she has money then she's less important ? What you mean doesn't have any sence. Then we shouldn't care about Kylie because she's a star ? Oh then she has to apologise if she had a cancer !
And yes she is amazing, I didn't say she was the only one, but she managed to do something extraordinary and I'm sure millions of women did amazing things on their side.

I LOVE Kylie.
I think she's beautiful, and an amazing performer.

This is about the best music in the last 12 months. Also, people dont decide based on how many singles a singer has had - its based on the quality of the music. On that note - Kylie was a worthy winner IMO

You can't compare it ! They have 2 different styles and voices, at least, we can judge them if they get the same songs. It's like Leona against Amy Winehouse.

I second you. She made a great album. She's so popular in nighclubs unlike Rihanna who's booed, and not only in France as I have seen.

I didn't mind Kylie winning this award, but I would have preferred Rihanna to win it...I think she's had more hits with Umbrella, Don't Stop The Music and Shut Up And Drive...whereas Kylie didn't really do too well with 2 Hearts, and Wow remains to be seen.

But I dunno if she got the sympathy vote. She's an iconic figure, idolised by many people.

I'm sure Rihanna will win another time in the future.

Yes, I said it in a previous post. Rihanna is far from being a good competitor against Kylie.
uring the NRJ Music Awards in France last month, Kylie received a special award, which only Madonna received last year and Rihanna was so pissed, I remember her face on national Tv !!

Rihanna gets more club play than Kylie over here but it's a different audience really. Kylie fully deserved her award tonight, and it's nothing to do with her having cancer. It's not even as if she plays the "cancer card", she just gets on with her career.

I also can't for the life of me see how Rihanna is booed in nightclubs

If anything, when Don't Stop The Music or Umbrella goes off...everybody goes to the dancefloor.

Yeah I know. And Shut Up And Drive (Wideboys remix) is a massive club song. I've never heard 2 Hearts or Wow be played in a club.

I would've preferred Alicia Keys or Rihanna to have won but to say it was just a sympathy vote sounds like sour grapes.Kylie's a well recognised international star and the current album got good reviews, it's just down to the panels taste not sympathy in my view.

2 Hearts isn't exactly a 'club' song. And Wow has just been released, so give it time.

It was in response to Remy who said she is played a lot in nightclubs. I've never really heard her songs played in clubs. And any music can really be mixed into a club song (I've heard "Tears Dry On Their Own" in clubs). And usually clubs play songs weeks before their release so if Wow hasn't been played yet, it probably won't anytime soon.

I agree that she has a different audience though.

Rihanna's music is too commercial and for young people, Rihanna may be popular in the charts but on the dancefloors, it's like Mika, it can kill a party and a DJ's reputation.
Kylie makes electro sounds in her music with dance music too, a good remix of Kylie is more popular, and in every song she made.

Remy no offence but in France maybe playing Rhianna in a club will kill the party but im sure that in much of the Uk its not the case

Oh sure but it's far too commercial from being as big as Kylie's ones. It's not the number of cds she did sell but the quality and how people react to it.
Kylie got the awards she deserved and was recognised for her efforts and her great album.
