The cost to the taxpayer this year of the monarchy was £1. 29 per person, to help pay for essential structural/electrical work of Buckingham Palace. It is usually around 77p per person per year. 77p!
Wonderful value, given they usually bring to the economy per annum more than they cost.
The monarchy do not own Buck Palace, it is kept in trust for the sovereign by the Crown estate, much like the PM does not own 10 Downing street.
The public pay more tax than that per annum for MP's expenses...
