I think the only conclusion we must make is he was only Knighted because he knows things Johnson and Co wouldn't want the public to know.

That 's why he continues in government. He knows a lot of secrets. He has had a lot of rewards for keeping his mouth shut.

Williamson is as much use as a chocolate kettle. The fact he is now known as a Sir for basicalling messing up every job he's had and being a complete ****, just makes me sick that an idiot like him has been rewarded for failure.

The general feeling/theory is that Gavin, former chief whip, has so much monumental dirt on the party and individuals within it and thus keeps reappearing and being appointed this and that despite being completely incapable just to keep him happy and more importantly, quiet.

He was probably allowed to resign before being sacked (impossible to stay on now that this has come to light), and possibly for the above reasons.
