They have Burnham in third/fourth place. That guy brings shame on Evertonian's.
The youngsters don't even know who Chuck Berry was or how many genders there are and I bet none of them have seen a Laurel and Hardy film. Last edited by Alf; 05-05-2023 at 06:39 PM. |

Tell me you don't know who Chuck Berry is or that you've never watched a Laurel and Hardy film without telling me you don't know who Chuck Berry is and have never watched a Laural and Hardy film

If Sunak had come out and said "yes we have fckd up but we will accept that and try better" he would have been lauded
to come out pretending his 5 failed pledges have any relevance is a disgrace |

The thing is Oliver. Chuck Berry was at his peak 20 years before I was born and Laurel and Hardy was in their prime 40/50 years before I was born. But I still grew up with them.
History came easy, I loved history. The youngsters today seem to detest it. They see themselves superior to the teenage boys that sacrificed their lives so that these ungrateful buggers can have freedom that they'd happily give away to tyrants just so they can look virtuous. They couldn't care less who Chuck Berry is or who Laurel and Hardy is. Because that's their attitude. Last edited by Alf; 05-05-2023 at 08:05 PM. |

Good lad, they paved the way for the comedy that we all enjoyed since.
You don't need to watch them if you don't want, but be aware of who they are and what they did. Like Chuck Berry, he influenced the music in the second half of the 20th century more than anyone. He was the poet and probably the sound of rock n roll. He influenced the British invasion of The Beatles and The Stones ect and they influenced the next. These youngsters these days think they know it all. Is all they know is how to say "I'm anti-facist" "I love dogs and cats" "I'm protecting the environment" It's all about them taking the praise and giving nothing. Remembering Kerry

A nightmare for the Cons.
Labour needs to do a bit more but I'd settle for a hung parliament with them as largest Party. Surprised the Lib Dems have done as well as they have. Well done to the Green party too. Really interesting night and then day today. Now I'll get some sleep tonight. |

The worst thing about the next election
After the results from Thursday, every commentator will say that Labour are certain to win the next general election. But they’re wrong. Labour aren’t going to win. The Tories are going to lose. This is a crucial distinction. Most voters are plainly motivated by grim disillusionment with the Government – not delirious enthusiasm for Labour’s policies, whatever they may be. By the election, the Tories will have been in power for 14 years. More than enough for all but their most loyal supporters to have grown heartily sick of them. So, as it tends to do in such circumstances, the country will sigh, and give the sole available alternative a whirl. That, though, is not how pro-Labour pundits and celebrities will view it. Instead, they’ll treat the result as an endorsement not only of Labour, but of their own personal worldview. “See!” they’ll crow. “This shows that the Tories got the British people completely wrong, with their hateful Right-wing culture wars. Clearly the public actually LOVE small boats. And puberty blockers, and the EU, and reparations for slavery, and teaching primary school children about dildos. The Tories are so out of touch…” For Conservatives, this is going to be the worst thing about the next general election. Not the result. But the gloating afterwards. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/columnis...-laws-ireland/ |
