Yes you get some vile comments from some extreme individuals.

Most of the time you are actually meeting many nice people.
With interesting and good life experiences and stories.
No matter what their politics are.
Many with problems too to listen to, so many to learn a lot from too.
Which I enjoy immensely.

I have also protested, usually against the police and paedophile protecting individuals in power.(you can even see me on YouTube doing so)

Your canvassing life also sounds very similar to my old job of fixing the tvs..a job I also enjoyed immensely due to its diversity on every job.
