[BBC to cut 1,000 hours of new
TV programming in 2023 to save money

The BBC is to broadcast 1,000
fewer hours of new TV programmes this year
as part of a drive to save money.

The broadcaster made about 12,500
"originated hours" in 2022.

Half of the 1,000-hour cut will come from sport,
with fewer major events in 2023. Elsewhere,
BBC Four is showing more material from the archives.
The BBC must find £400m in annual savings
by 2027/28, according to the corporation's
latest annual plan, which was published on Thursday.
It said the current freeze of the price of a
TV licence "continues to place significant financial
challenges on the BBC at a time of high inflation
and media super-inflation".]

[Top BBC presenters including

as the Beeb tries to save millions
The cash-strapped BBC is trying to save costs

Furious insiders say it has caused already
low staff morale to plummet further

BBC news has made a mega change,
in the mornings
until 11AM they are showing Radio 5 Live Debate
Nicky Campbell.

This is saving them big money
no News Presenter to be paid early AM.

I had the misfortune to "have" to listen to 5 live at the weekend as i was driving and i wanted to hear the West Ham game and it wasn't on TS

JP was the commentator and the continual breaks to go to some fecking rugby game in Exeter and some womans football game was infuriating - no one listening to West Ham v Arsenal gives 2 hoots about either so why they did it time and again is just crazy. Poor JP had to "pretend" to be interested in the woman's game but he wasnt fooling anyone.

No wonder the listening figures are going straight down the pan

absolute shambles

The BBC has apologised after one of its
reporters asked Morocco’s football captain
an “inappropriate” question before the team’s
World Cup match against Germany on Monday.

Morocco’s debut at the tournament in Australia
made it the first Arab and north African team
to qualify for the Women’s World Cup.
But it was an “unethical” and “dangerous” question
directed at the team’s captain,
Ghizlane Chebbak, about LGBTQ+ rights
that has since taken centre stage.

“In Morocco it’s illegal to have a gay relationship.
Do you have any gay players in your squad,
and what’s life like for them in Morocco?”
the BBC reporter asked at the post-match
media conference in Melbourne.

Laws that discriminate against women
and LGBTQ+ individuals remain in place in Morocco.
Acts between members of the same sex,
referred to as “sexual deviancy”,
are punishable with up to three years in prison,
according to Human Rights Watch.

In response to the question, Chebbak winced,
removed her ear piece and looked to her coach,
Reynald Pedros, before laughing.
A Fifa official interjected:
“Sorry, this is a very political question,”
and asked the reporter to stick to questions
relating to football.

https://www.theguardian.com/football...mens-world-cup

What a stupid BBC Reporter
not sticking to Football.
