Things appear to be moving very fast in the city of Rostov-on-Don, where footage on local Telegram channels appear to show Wagner forces surrounding a government building.

The footage - which has not been verified by the BBC - shows armed men in uniform walking around the local interior ministry's building's perimeter, as armoured vehicles surround it, including two tanks with their guns trained on it.

Meanwhile the local governor Vasily Golubev urged residents to avoid the centre of Rostov-on-Don.

"In connection with the current situation, I ask you to refrain from traveling to the city center and, if possible, not to leave your homes," he wrote on Telegram

Video claiming to show Yevgeny Prigozhin inside Russia's southern military headquarters in Rostov-on-Don is circulating online.

In the video Prigozhin says his troops will blockade the city and move on to Moscow unless defence chiefs Sergei Shoigu and Valery Gerasimov come to meet them.

it's a distraction at the moment, perhaps brought on by successes with the ukraine counter offensive?

If the kremlin want to put down the rebellion it should be fairly easy for them to do, but once unrest starts it can be very difficult to stop, particularly if the top generals start thinking about their own futures.

What i do know is that we don't want the leader of the wagner group to get close to power because he is one crazy sob

glad Wagner finally see the light then, Russia need changes, since the ukraine conflict isn't going to be solved through war, that is a losing game more and more and they start to see that, how Putin keeps sending his citizens on suicide missions basically



a new more stable leader could end the conflict through more talks, easier to come to compromises maybe
