Wanting to settle into BBC news for a good few hours on your cosy off-days mid-week but having to contend with Nicky Campbell here, there and everywhere. I literally just want the news.

I just flick from 501 to 503 to 512 then to 522 for news items

I tend to watch most of these things on mobile now though. It’s not that common that I park myself in front of the telly anymore. I probably should because there’s more obvious variety and Sky+ Smart TVs are a big asset but I tend to just stream iPlayer whenever I want to watch anything on BBC.

Ah ..

I’ve also got a few smart gadgets spread around now .. so I can just instruct Google , Siri or Alexa to play whatever station I want .. TalkSport or GB news or whatever ..

I bought an Echo Dot for £3 and an amazing Apple HomePod for £5 at the local car boot sale

I’m very archaic when it comes to voice-to-interpretation technology, despite the fact that I used to be a subtitler (but even then I was manually transcribing/plugging out subtitle-text; I didn’t get a chance to be trained with oral transcription, still). So I’m not even into all that Alexa/ask Siri stuff. I’d rather just use my hands to manoeuvre these things.

Edit: ignore that wink-emoji. It just popped up and it’s not even letting me get rid.
