This applies to a lot of things in all honesty. The Internet has probably destroyed the world, when it comes right down to it. Mass, instantaneous communication between billions of people was never "supposed to" be a thing, and the psychology of it all is brand new, terrifying and incontrollable. I was having this conversation with my Brother earlier about this exact thing.

Whilst I do love the Internet (and I truly do) but it has destroyed society in many ways.

And what I mean by that is how a lot of rival businesses get eaten up by Amazon, people forming their own echo chambers instead of hearing an opposing viewpoint (that you can't really hide from irl) but you very easily can on the Internet.

And speaking of opposing viewpoints, I feel that when these precious souls hear an opposing viewpoint on the Internet, they can't handle it and turn nasty, where as irl they'd probably be more forced into hearing all sorts of opinions on a variety of topics, so they'd actually be mature enough to accept differences of opinion.

And btw this goes for sjw's & anti-sjw's, both need to grow up.

But even away from Political intolerance, people are just more intolerant of different opinions since they can now form their own echo chambers on the Internet, rather than accepting different opinions, or debating respectfully why you think that your opinion is right.

And I do standby how Amazon has largely killed off rival Retail stores that you had to physically get to, to purchase items from.

I think Amazon's played a part in killing off the high street, but ridiculously high business rates hasn't helped. Neither has the fact that last time I went to Norwich to have lunch and go shopping, it cost me £14 to park. It's probably more now. It's not as if there are buses that go past my house.

A combination of online shopping and "retail park" physical shopping has killed the retail high street, the latter is probably on the way out too, the fact is that overheads mean physical stores can't really compete on price, but beyond that even where they can... they simply can't compete on convenience, range of products, 24h shopping, etc... especially now that online shopping delivery times are usually next day or 2 days max. 'twas slightly different in the earlier days of online shopping where you had your fingers crossed every day for a week that the postie was bringing your stuff .
