Default The .. what made you ponder today thread

Soooo I just heard that some guy called Mr Beast had more YouTube followers than anyone else - 230 million followers !!

So being an inquisitive type I checked his latest offering on YouTube..

Very disappointed

All looked very staged and predictable .

One thing I noticed was that there are ZERO negative comments which suggests that they are always deleted …

Then I checked that special YouTube monitoring app to see what everyone else REALLY think .

Interestingly the vast majority agree with me !!

So why on earth is he soooo popular ?

He comes off like one of those fake positivity all the time kind of people, I'm suspicious of people like that tbh.

Of the big YouTubers, give me Pewdiepie, regardless of whatever controversies he might have accumulated over the years, at least he is funny and genuine imo.

Oh I'm not always in love with the topics that he covers either.

I just find him funny.

What kind of content do you like to watch on YouTube?

Why does Mr Krabs hoard so much money if he can barely bring himself to spend a dime?

How people drink Bloody Marys.

I’ve just seen an “ultimate recipe” for one containing pickle brine and horseradish (things that disgust me anyway) with a certain proportion of tomato juice. It’s just gross.

People who enjoy Bloody Marys, how do you drink it without vomiting? I’ve had nicer garlic juice.

It's an embellishment of how a lot of rich people genuinely have that kind of mindset.

I don't understand that mindset personally, but it is a thing.

No, it’s definitely a thing. These are just little things you start to think about when you sorta realise that SpongeBob’s written in two ways. Of course it’s primarily for kids but as far as cartoons go it still has this undercurrent of stuff that’s written for adults as well as kids. It’s up to you (as any one person) if you fancy that trip down memory lane and catch a few cartoon reruns on your Netflix on the odd Saturday morning but it’s just something to think about.

Too true, I agree with you.

Tbh, I watch SpongeBob nearly every day lol, it's such a classic with it's hidden adult jokes and messages imo, it has way more depth to it than some people might realise.

Has it's viewership dropped?

Either way I do enjoy the ramblings on there, and ironically Simon Jordan and Agbonlahor have kind of grown on me, even if Agbonlahor is in his own little world sometimes.

How Emmerdale isn’t a patch on EastEnders or Corrie. Evenings where it’s pretty-much just Emmerdale are almost inherently more boring.

The woman who plays Charity is a superb actress but that’s about the only exciting thing about Emmers at the moment.

Looking at this photo … the whole thing looks kinda out of proportion .. presumably there’s quite a bit of weight on top of those skinny little legs …. rather like those tables at car boot sales

Men who take drugs for erectile dysfunction, such as Viagra, may reduce their risk of Alzheimer's disease, a study suggests.

In research on more than 260,000 men, those taking the drugs were 18% less likely to develop the dementia-causing condition.

So men will start taking viagra for its health benefits

…it’s not been a proper clinical trial or research though …as far as is reported…

‘While the findings are striking, the observational study cannot determine whether Viagra and similar pills protect against Alzheimer’s or whether men who are already less prone to the condition are simply more likely to use the tablets.

“We can’t say that the drugs are responsible, but this does give us food for thought on how we move into the future,” said the lead author Dr Ruth Brauer at University College London. “We now need a proper clinical trial to look at the effects of these drugs on Alzheimer’s in women as well as men.”…’

…if it’s something in the drug then the theory should be that it would be effective on females also and if it’s jot then why not…and could it be made so…?…come on, if there is thought to genuinely be a real link then let’s get onto that research for the females…WHAT ARE YOU WAITINg FOR….

Viagra does actually treat a lot of the sexual side-effects that certain antidepressants can have. It’s a wonder it’s not prescribed more often.

with such a tragic disease, if anything reduces the chances of suffering from it, it should be investigated without delay.

Viagra does obviously affect your circulation pretty substantially so it's not unreasonable for it to have side effects not previously discovered
