[An anti-anxiety drug which is prescribed
to more than eight million people in Britain has been linked to thousands of deaths in the past five years, it has been revealed. Concerns have been raised about the impact of pregabalin, which is used by doctors to treat anxiety, as well as epilepsy and nerve pain, with one saying prescribing it is like 'selling a car without brakes'. Use of the drug can lead to dependency, with some people becoming addicted to the 'euphoria' that taking it can cause, while others become reliant on the relaxing feelings it can induce.] https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...ive-years.html |

Well hopefully there's alternative medication for people with Anxiety, that's obviously less lithal.

The best treatment for anxiety is to remove yourself from the things that cause anxiety.
For me, I have a very low tolerance to annoying people. In the last few years I have successfully filtered out the type of people I do not want to associate myself with. I don't like taking drugs anyway. I had an aching tooth over the weekend, and someone said take a Bufferin, and I said no. I didn't even have the Covid jab. Regarding the tooth, by using your mind you can desolve pain and I successfully did it. It sounds bonkers but it really does work. |

I don’t think this should discourage people from taking or prescribing prehabalin when it’s needed though. It’s not just used for anxiety but also different types of nerve pain and seizures. It’s basically a headier version of gabapentin (same family but a bit more mellow and less addictive).

Avoidance of the causes of anxiety is basically confirming to yourself that there was something to be anxious about, and as things like GAD are not about the actual cause of anxiety, your mind will trick itself into finding a new "cause" of the feeling. This is how people become completely socially reclusive/agoraphobic. You have to manage the symptoms in the short terms and re-train the brain in the long term. Pregabalin though is a neuro medication that was designed for epilepsy and other neuropathic disorders... it's a very drastic option for anxiety and prescribed far too freely. |

Quand il pleut, il pleut

…sadly, I think that many GP surgeries are more conveyor belt prescription lines now…gotta problem, getta drug…we have one that’ll fix you…only it often doesn’t and sadly it often leads to deeper health issues and some that aren’t ‘fixable’….and I think that it’s only going to get worse and worse…people need complete awareness of side effects and the possible impacts of these really heavy duty drugs and the lack of GP to patient contact is taking that away….
