John Wick 2.

Admittedly it was a bit forced at the beginning of the Film to try and get John Wick's character back into the seedy underbelly.

But having said that, the Film had great action scenes, and it was nice to see an expansion on the Continental organization.

And the ending of this Film has setup the third and fourth Films up nicely.

If I'd seen Batman Begins before, I'd completely forgotten it. So effectively seen it for the first time last night

I'm a big fan of the Batman comics, and while Dark Knight and Rises aren't direct adaptations of anything specific -DK is obviously inspired by Long Halloween, DKR has elements of Knightfall- they're not especially "canon-breaking", so they give me little to whine about like for example, the Snyderverse, I have to switch off my WELL ACKSHURELLY brain and enjoy them for what they are, which .. took a while

ANYWAY, Batman Begins! Again it's not really adapted from anything specific, there are elements of Year One, but the training stuff with "Ducard" etc is mostly alluded to or flashed-back to in just a few panels, so there's a lot of wiggle room there.
(Ra's and Ducard are separate people, but in a more realistic and grounded telling, I can't see there being a warrior who's hundreds of years old, who regularly revives or rejuvenates himself in magical pits)

I kept thinking of Qui Gonn Jinn, telling Bats that anger is the path to the dark side

I loved the way Scarecrow was portrayed. I liked Wayne Manor and the Bat Cave, Gotham looked great.

8/10

…Anatomy of a Fall……this was one of the Oscar nominated movies that I wanted to watch and then saw that it was streaming on Prime…I’m not going to say too much because I think it’s one of those movies that it’s good to go into ‘blind’ and let the story unfold without too much knowledge of the plot…the only couple of things that I’ll say is that it’s billed as a crime/thriller, I think…but that leaves it a little under sold really because it’s so much more …the other thing is that I hadn't realised that it was partly subtitled/in French language, because the setting of it is France…there is very much of the dialogue in English also…so even for those who aren’t so keen on subtitled movies, this is still worth a look…anyway, I’ll give it a 9/10, it’s pretty excellent and very intriguing and will keep those thoughts going after the closing credits….

…Totally Killer……was actually really enjoyable and very 80s nostalgic with great soundtrack also….kind of a serial killer/horror/slasher version of Back to the Future with a female lead as Marty McFly ….it shouldn’t have worked and should have been a OH NOOOOO…!!!!…type thing, but it zipped along quite nicely…7/10…

…Lady Bird……I couldn’t recall if I’d seen this before but I loved it…it was such an absorbing mother/daughter relationship and Lady Bird trying to get through adolescent life was fabulously cast as Saoirse Ronan…plus Laurie Metcalf is such a treat…loved it…8/10…

Con Air. I forgot how much fun it was. Nicholas Cage and an all star cast in this all action movie, including John Malkovich and Steve Buscemi.
A blast 9/10

…Glass……I haven’t watched the movie, Split…but because I was aware of it, I realised that James McAvoy’s character was the same one in both movies…and obviously the same director and the same director of Unbreakable as well…it’s a long, long time since I’ve watched Unbreakable so I don’t recall much about it, only the sketchy outline…I did like it, though…but this one, not so much…the characters themselves were great because they were already established in good storylines…?…well, as I say…I didn’t actually watch Split yet so I’m just speculating with that one but….there just wasn’t a solid storyline to follow with Glass…don’t make movies just for the holy heck of it…5/10…

Glass is the last one of the 3 though, you should have watched Split first

…yeah, I didn’t realise that until I was actually watching and realised that the Split character must be the same because it was the same director and same actor….duh…by that time, I’d invested enough in it to want to watch through to the end…it’s the same with Unbreakable, I hadn’t realised the link because I’m THAT dumb….

They're actually quite good if you watch them in order, I wish I had re-watched Unbreakable before I watched Split even because it had been years since I saw it

I haven't actually seen Glass... I've heard it's not as good as either Unbreakable or Split, though. The link between the three is obviously quite explicitly stated in Glass I think - with "Split" the link to Unbreakable was actually a bit of a twist at the end... it wasn't revealed that they were in the same world until a little end scene with a Bruce Willis cameo.

Split is a good film on its own but not a realistic portrayal of dissociative identity disorder of course... but then movies rarely are!

I've seen all three, and I agree wjth the consensus that Glass is the weakest.

I'd say it's watchable, and worth watching, though I'd give it a six.

The scene where Mace Windu is going down the stairs gave me nightmares for weeks when I first saw Unbreakable I must have fallen down the stairs when I was too little to remember or something because I always have a semi-phobia that I was going to fall down stairs which were anywhere near me, even if it was impossible from where I was.
So seeing that scene at a young age was scary

The best stories are rarely ever realistic.

…Insomnia……it’s crazy that I hadn’t seen this 2002 film…a Christopher Nolan film and with Robin Williams and Al Pacino and Hilary Swank …all things that would have drawn me to it and yet I hadnt seen it….although Robin Williams was a such a natural comic genius, I always loved him most in his very serious roles and also in very dark roles as well…such as this one and Ine Hour Photo…anyway, just a thoroughly excellent and gripping and layered storyline and movie …8.5/10….

Deep Red. Profondo Rosso.
Such a brilliant movie. I love Dario Argento and this keeps you guessing all the way. A solid 10/10

…No Escape…an Owen Wilson/Pierce Bronson’s movie on Netflix…not really sure what to think of it…it was very fast paced, though …so a gripping watch because of that pace…

Suspiria.
My favourite of Dario Argento movies.
The atmosphere is increasingly tense and it's so stilysh.
The music by Goblins is fantastic.
Everytime I watch it I can't sleep properly afterwards
10/10 easily

…Blitz……Jason Statham movie, which in the first moments establishes itself as a Jason Statham movie…it had a good cast and the storyline kept it a little above the generic Jason Stathamness…still a little corny but a distraction of other solid characters… dry violent in parts, a few bits were just….a lot and too much….6.5/10…

Solo: A Star Wars Story

nice star wars origins film, very nice to know how Han & Chewbacca first met

also is there any role Woody Harrelson can't play he slayed the ''tobias beckett'' character big time

good acting from Emilia Clarke too (i know she gets a ****load of criticism regarding her acting performances) but good role from her too

very good storytelling, couple of very good funny moments too, very slick visuals

8.5
