Why on earth is Xaby Alonso staying with Levercusan !!??

What’s his thought process I wonder

All the massive opportunities he’s missed out on they’re looking toothless against Atalanta
- 3:0 down

Plus he will probably lose some of his best players to bigger teams in the summer

Just found out I can watch this on Discovery+.

They are making it more and more difficult to watch these finals for free.

I know I keep moaning on the Football section lately.

But wtf! At what I think was Joe Cole's comment after the match, saying "that's what they call love."

What has happened to Humanity that this is actually deemed acceptable dialogue in what's meant to be a discussion about Atalanta winning the Europa League?

I know that Football Shows have always had the odd daft comment here or there, but the last few years have brought in a whole new world of lameness.

Southgate said the dreaded words.

They're paid to do a job, they either do it or they don't, and if they don't do it then they should face constructive criticism, it's part and parcel of any job out there.

These players should be receiving love from their family, friends, and the fans should preferably have the player's back if he is playing for their team.

He is doing a Wayne Rooney.

Failing upwards, even though it was Kompany's woeful tactics that got Burnley relegated.

in all fairness

Atalanta are a pretty strong team either, from the small place of Bergamo, a solid top 5 team in the Serie A against the bigger city teams from Rome, Turin, Milan

Lookman is a huge talent, could see him leaving for many millions soon i think

Koopmeiners also a amazing tough force in midfield

De Ketelaere back in his good old form, compared to his weak first year at AC Milan, this loan spell does him very good

Scamacca very important up front not just himself scoring goals but also creating scoring opportunities for other players

Kolasinac tough defender (i always liked him, even at Schalke, Arsenal)

Scalvini, a talented defender who is hyped up to be the next Bonucci, Chiellini

Gian Piero Gasperini, i have sympathies for him as well, finally winning a prize, in his 8 years at the club

was a good and enjoyable final, Leverkusen wasn't that bad, but Atalanta were consistently good on every position basically, also they did a good job in blocking Xhaka, Wirtz from getting in their usual strong form

so what not a treble, maybe a double still, on saturday vs Kaiserslautern the cup final

a party on sunday nevertheless

BayerLev looked tired and lethargic last night

Looks like all those last minute rescue jobs took a toll after all

not at all

some moments they just had some bad luck, other moments was proper defending by Atalanta

also where some players might be leaving, the team is quite attractive due to the CL group stage

Frimpong for 40 million probably

new goalkeeper i guess

i wouldn't sell Wirtz for less than 50 or 60 million, same goes for Tah and Andrich, no way these should leave on too low offers tbh

let's give Atalanta more praise than trashtalking on Leverkusen, its long due that they win a big trophy now anyway, idk what it is but they have some magic touch regarding talented youngsters, also Robin Gosens whom became a german international when he played over there too, while before that he was a unknown at heracles almelo

same with Hans Hateboer too (also wasn't from a top dutch team but PEC Zwolle i believe)

Harry Kane moved to Bayern to win trophies. 1 season later his manager is going to be the guy who got Burnley relegated from the premier league

There's honestly no justice in Football.

I could honestly out manage Rooney and Kompany in my sleep, yet they just keep getting offered jobs in big Leagues even though they can't manage for toffee.

And I don't mean it to be nasty (as Kompany seems like a decent guy tbf) but Rooney in particular can't take any responsibility for relegating teams (when it's his fault) and decides to blame the team instead for his failure at understanding the basics of Football tactics.

And listen, I'm no Pep Guardiola, but even I know that you need to do two things as a Football Manager.

1. Have a god damn midfield.

And 2. Play to your players strengths.

Rooney did neither, and couldn't accept that he did neither, therefore he hasn't learned anything positive from his time with us to then improve at Plymouth.

I don't know why I'm getting worked up, Plymouth isn't my team, if they want to get relegated that badly then go for it.

Thing is .. Kompany likes to play from the back ..it was extremely successful and great to watch in the championship ..

Now transfer that style to Bayern’s players who CAN play out from the back and you should have a winning formula

Kompany can only do any good when his team is exceptional for the League they're in, that imo isn't a good Manager.

I look at Thomas Frank or David Moyes as examples of Managers that can bring the best out of ordinary teams.

John Eustace last season for Blues when we were everyone's tip to get relegated, and he kept us up with games to spare.

They're good Managers imo, not someone that has to have the best team in the League.

I think that Bayern are begging for Levekusen and Stuttgart to be the top 2 again, with Dortmund and Leipzig also above them this time.

Plus not every team can play Guardiola's style of Football.

That kind of thinking that every team is doing is killing the enjoyment of Football for me.

I remember growing up when Ferguson, Wenger, Mourinho, Benitez, and Allardyce (to name a couple of controversial styles here) all had different ways of approaching the game.

And with Klopp gone next season, the Pep clones are only going to get worse in Football.

Kompany failed in the premier league because he couldn't adapt his tactics to the team they are playing. Arteta and Pep tweak their tactics every game, and that's why they continue to be successful. Kompany either doesn't know how to do that or is unwilling to do it. Either way, when you become predictable, the opposition will adapt their tactics to expose your weaknesses and that what will happen to Bayern

You can’t compare lowly Burnley to the talent of Arsenal and ManC ..

If he had to go against all his principles and played death football like Everton or the other UFC teams he would’ve quit ..

By sticking to his principles he’s earned himself one of the most prestigious jobs in

Who’s laughing now

I agree with you on that tbf.

It's why I expect another 3rd Place finish for Bayern next season.

You play to your players strengths, if that means going "UFC" to win the match then you take that approach.

If you want to be a good Manager anyway.
