The thing is, hemp essential oil is one thing (just another plant in the grand scheme of plants of value) but having a room stinking of green in the name of incense is another thing. Not everyone wants that or lives in an environment where it won't the smell won't be misinterpreted as actual weed.

You have a point about essential oils and candles being ... a combo to be approached with caution at least. It's alright when the candle comes pre.-infused with essential oils but when you're adding them directly to the candle, it makes the candle more flammable, at least to begin with. If the candle's not pre.-scented it's better to just use an air-diffuser (let the thyme, hemp, patchouli and bergamot marinate in the air whatever Friday night takes your fancy) and just light the candle normally and separate from essential oils.
