Maybe across the board all politicians will start to think a little more carefully about how they choose their next words. Lest they become targets themselves. It's been ridiculous the past several years the utter bravado. Yes, it's inflammatory language. In the end though, it's to impress people on the internet or make themselves a name. They want fame, not warfare. These are not individuals who will ever join a militia and take up a rifle. They're politicians with tons of private and public security, no concerns of police protection and round the clock surveillance of their internal communications. I said this before, that threats are usually caught before they become public. They're made well aware of this and so it gives them a sense that they're untouchable. It's just not worth it now after this (I hope). The hard left are being played, imo. Their own politicians, or at least the ones more likely to be favorable to their cause, will fold like a deck of cards once they're under any real threat. You can't necessarily say that about every person on the right... some are in actual militias. That should clue some in until the likeliest outcome of this if "things break out". Which I don't think they will.

The media does not provide sane interpretations about our reality. They want to maintain the theater, because it gives politicians an effective chance at getting to the emotions of their respective constituencies. If Trump is a decades long phenomenon, they are to blame, because they create the conditions that allow these storms to form... and continue to form, because they want their individual establishments and political interests to maintain relevant.

I would never go as far as to blame the media for any individual shooter or a mass shooting. However, they do not do enough to prevent these things from becoming more regular. They're not intending to incite anything but some of the people working behind those establishments have a thirst for it and they really are being misled if they think it will somehow lead to outcomes that work out in their favor. There's not going to be a communist-style uprising. The US is too large a space for that to control, is too well-armed, to put up with any of their sh**. They're being misled. At best they'll have cities and other cosmopolitans for a moment happily plastering bumper stickers and other lame stickers all over branded posts on social media, until the upheaval disrupts their lives and creature comforts... then that support will vaporize.

The milder scare tactics, staged protests, social media work, and sporadic riots do work to set the stage for the politicizing of things so they can push harder policies, but it only works because for the most part, people are separated from it through a TV screen or a computer... but as soon as it goes too far, it'll backfire massively. That's why we see now that these politicians are in a hurry to condemn what has happened and to try to disassociate from it.

the ambient temperature of the rhetoric from both sides has been steadily increasing for years. Compare this to the time of Obama and the difference in language is striking. I don't believe either side is really capable or inclined to dial it back, maybe for a day or two but certainly no longer than a week

the reason, i think there was some leaked security information, and that doesn't necessarily mean it was an inside job, is that the shooter knew that building roof was an unsecured location that had field of view cover from the sniper teams. It's not something that happened randomly
