And tbf with England I felt like we were slowly getting better with each game at the knockouts, I think that we had our personal best performance against Netherlands for example, it's the only match this tournament that I would say England genuinely played well.
But the final was a few steps backwards and not acceptable, because it's the final so you can't hope to fluke a win off of about 2 or 3 clear cut chances, you need to be having at least 5 to 6 good chances to win because the opposition is much more likely to score against you in the final than in any other round of the competition, and Spain did.

Thing is we had the strongest squad
We were in the weakest group
We qualified after 2 games but still played our first eleven needlessly in the third match which could have ensured every squad player get time on the pitch - improved morale
We were given a dubious penalty
We ended up in the easiest side of the draw
