I have to say I have become very disillusioned by some of the comments on this thread, by all means support your candidate but not to the point where you are actually cutting off your nose to spite your face, all parties will have some polices that not everyone will agree with, the idea that women will not be able to access abortions in cases of incest or rape or leave an abusive partnership is something no rightminded person can agree with unless they really really hate women, on the other hand cases where hairy assed men can gain access to women just because they say they feel like a woman and carry a pink phone case and a lipstick and people will uphold their rights to do so is also insane....what a time to be alive, what a time to be a woman, its clear we have no allies because people are so entrenched in their political divides they will not give up any ground even when they have daughters, nieces, sisters, cousins mothers or friends who may be impacted by these polices in the future

Yes exactly. I just finished watching the show Honour though so perhaps they really don't see even their own daughters and proper human beings like their sons

I think the answer is that some do view their daughters that way -- and some are just complete hypocrites about it. Will control/abuse their partner all day and then later the same evening, go and beat up their daughter's partner for doing the same thing to their daughter.

it comes down to who will do the the least damage to womens rights, which isn't where the world should be in 2024. There is no mood to listen and no mood to compromise anywhere on the planet it seems

…no, I don’t think that I knew who he was at the time…I knew that he went on to a successful career but I didn’t tie the two together when I saw his name as being the chosen VP…I don’t recall all aspects of the movie, either…I can’t even recall what I wrote in the movie thread and it would take too long to go back and find it …but I do recall the characters and their family dynamics being very layered and complex…one thing is for sure …(…from JD Vance’ own perspective…)…is his childhood impacted him enough to write the book so very profound and meaningful, we could say…?…and an influence on the person he is…?…and yet in staying in an abusive marriage with children…?…what about the impact on those children and the adults they may become because not every story has a ‘successful career’ outcome ….

I agree. It's just scaring demographics at this point for votes. They all run on terrible policies, so this is the last resort to keep most people content enough to show up to the polls. On most things, at least in the US, both parties will vote for the same broken solution to things... it's just the way they decide to tackle it so they can break it even more It's who can break things faster in such a way the other party can't undue and when they have the vote again, they'll have even more power to break it further. I'm not even kidding. There's no interest in fixing the system at the party level, that much is perfectly clear. Seeing what happened to both Bernie and Trump with their attempts to flush either out of the system doesn't signal to me that they support the progressive/conservative wings of their own party... but happy to claim they are sheltering them while they each fight the culture wars on their behalf and take most of the blame for everything "gone wrong" these days. When it's really just 2+ decades of sh*tty governing.

I obviously have no evidence of anything, but his comments about women in general don't paint him in a good light behind the scenes with his Wife imo.

Unless, he is saying dangerous rhetoric to standout, and he doesn't really mean half of what he is saying.

So either way he is either highly Misogynistic/supporting hitting your Wife, or he is someone that lies about half of his Political views to get votes, either way it's not a good look for Mr. Vance.

Exactly.

If Vance weren't a Republican, the same people that are defending his views would be viewing him very differently.

I know that the Democrats voters can also be blinkered as well, but tbf to them I haven't seen them champion on a Vance type of vile behaviour to be their President or Vice President.

Vance imo makes Trump seem like a reasonable guy in comparison.
