She's Italian yeah , But i'm pretty sure if there was a sudden wave of Mafia gangs arriving in the UK and committing crimes from e.g Italy itself.... she'd also have concerns. But that doesn't mean she'd want Italy blacklisted or whatever the term is when a country is seen as a ' high risk warning ' . That's still her home.

The fact is multiculturalism is a great thing , like I said in the other thread ...many of us are from different cultures & backgrounds and Britain is very diverse. So it would be ignorant and silly to say we hate it or are against it.

The situation is more to it than that , and it gets more complicated ... especially when the argument is usually about ' illegal immigration' and not immigration in general. Plenty have come here from all over the world and integrated into the community just fine ,but when we question why some aren't integrating or why crime has gone up then we're the bad people ? .

Just for the record ( I already made this point but I'll make it again) , the 18 year old who brutally killed those kids the other day ... could be any race and any religion and I would still treat him the same way.

People wanted answers. Not everyone is a mindless yob who goes out rioting for the sake of it.

White,black , Asian and others commit crimes, there's no denying that .

I ask similarly again, what does illegal immigration possibly have to do with the Cardiff-born scumbag who committed this crime? To the extent of Vanessa going on to create a whole thread on multiculturalism.

I think it's more of a general discussion,and not just about said Cardiff born scum.

It's also a build up of what's been happening in the UK with the high level of knife crime .

I wasn't the one that made it was i .

Maybe what triggered it was the whole rioting, and the many theories of why such a horrific crime happened.

Thoughts of radicalism etc , I know you don't like that argument...but people were trying to come up with answers.

Nurseries forced into lockdown after stabbing rumours on social media…


A number of nurseries in Wigan were forced into a lockdown this morning after a false report of a stabbing circulated on social media.

A false rumour of an alleged stabbing on Enfield Street in the Pemberton area circulated earlier today (Friday). Multiple nurseries in the area sent out alerts to parents to warn them about the alleged incident, the Liverpool Echo reports.

One nursey said it had gone into 'full lockdown' due to the 'alarming report'. A message to parents said: "There have been posts on social media this morning regarding an incident on Enfield Street.

"As a result of the alarming reports we have made the decision to put the nursery into a full lockdown. All our children are safe and being well cared for by our fabulous staff."

But the incident turned out to be a crash on Ormskirk Road. Emergency services were called to the scene at around 7am.

Greater Manchester Police confirmed the incident was a two car crash, and was damage only, with no injuries reported. The ECHO understands a larger than normal emergency response was sent to the scene as an iPhone detected a crash and sent an alert to emergency services.

Following the large response a false report began to circulate on social media alleging the police response was due to a stabbing and that an offender was at large. GMP confirmed the stabbing was a false report.


This week false information spread online regarding the suspect in the mass stabbings in Southport culminated in riots across the country, including on Luke's Road in Southport. Both the Home Secretary, Yvette Cooper, and the Chief Constable of Merseyside Police, Serena Kennedy, have spoken this week about the dangers of misinformation.

When Ms Cooper visited Southport the day after the mass stabbing, she urged the public to avoid 'unhelpful' speculation and added social media companies 'need to take some responsibility'.

Speaking to the ECHO on Wednesday, the day after hundreds of people attended a violent protest, CC Kennedy added: "People have attended after the vigil for the purpose of mindless violence, thuggery and hooliganism and they do not represent Southport, they do not represent Merseyside. There is a lot of misinformation and speculation out there."

This is so sad to hear. When I still lived in the UK, we never had to practice lockdowns… in America of course we do them but hearing (on here) that yall do practice lockdowns now is a little reassuring but also terribly heartbreaking

…we have practised a few, actually and it’s pretty scary isn’t it, just to practise…maybe because it is a practise, it does give you that mind space to feel the scariness, if that makes sense…?…the adrenaline of an actual terrifying event and danger isn’t there, so your mind has room for other things to feel and you fully absorb that scariness as opposed to going into an ‘automatic’ mode…

…I know that it is heartbreaking that we do practice them as you say, Caitlin…but I also think that it’s something we should have always practised…(…as in more safety precautions in schools…)….and that, that is happening as a common procedure now is a good thing…sadly as with Southport, the same secure premises isn’t yet there with out of school events…but I think there will be changes now…
