Why do they even have all those weapons in the first place.

The law is different here .

The UK police don't want it to get to that stage where they have to use firearms,even armed police are usually more as a warning for people not to kick off .

when they arrested someone in Brighton....they were mostly guarding the area and telling people to step back, whilst using the police dog as another way to discourage further criminal acts.

If things continue to escalate further however...I don't know what the police will do.
