The people in charge of these promotions should all be arrested and thrown in prison immediately, if racism is to be taken seriously.

I say the two tier system is gonna let them off.

certain police officers can use a raise of their salaries yes


but certain officers, more like those who actually arrest criminals, take down underworld gangs, the undercover cops who gather intel deep within the underworld who put their own life on the line to keep us safe


those could use a raise and a promotion yes



but not those who sit on their arse most of the time, drinking coffee and eating donuts

The officers involved have definite grounds to sue, though.

Isn't the whole DEI situation basically positive Discrimination?

It should just go to who's the best for the job, I'm gathering that in this particular case that it weren't the outcome.

Depends if it's done right or wrong - if it's for the numbers/stats with arbitrary hires then yes. If it's with a proper understanding that a diverse workforce offering diverse perspectives actually IS better for a workplace/business than simply hiring every applicant "with top grades" then no.

That's what "proper" DEI is about. Understanding that someone with the most experience/best qualifications isn't necessarily the best hire if you already have other staff members with similar experience and qualifications. You want to increase your knowledge and perspective pool "as a whole", not add clones of your best employee.

I get that taking the odd punt/gamble is something that every workforce has to do to bring new possible talent to whatever industry that the company is working in.

But ultimately you want people that are just good at their job, because hiring diverse just for a "different perspective" can lead to insane ideas being pushed forward in the workplace, that the more qualified and better at the job worker would've avoided entirely.

Just look at the US Election between Trump and Hilary, Hilary was way more qualified and would've been the better leader, but the public picked Trump/Republicans instead, even though Trump had zero experience in Politics at the time.

For me screw with box ticking with the demographics, it's no coincidence that society around all of the first world nations have been having issues within a lot of different industries since the motto isn't to hire the best people for the job anymore.

It'd be like hiring Wayne Rooney to manage another Championship side after already relegating two other Championship sides, all because he ticks some kind of demographic box I'm sure, because it sure isn't for his tactics.

Speaking for myself, I would want a job that valued my skill at the job (or my potential skill at the job) rather than be seen as some sort of demographic needing to be ticked off.

You wouldn't be allowed to discriminate against any other group in society so I don't see how discriminating against white people should be acceptable. Ever. I disagree with any kind of shortlist that excludes any group of people it should always be the best person for the job. I would be in favour of blind CVs to help that happen.

I'm not going to claim to know anything about football Mock but I would think of it more this way if you're trying to understand why diverse hiring is important:

If you had unlimited £££ and signed the world's 11 "best and highest paid footballers" -- but they all play the same position -- you'd end up with a not-very-good football team, despite having the 11 "best qualified" players in the world.

It's an easier allegory to show with American Football. If you fill a team with the country's best Quarterbacks, they're going to get ****ing flattened. Like they might legitimately die.

I get what you're saying, and I do believe that you've got to bring in new blood into any industry (that's my hope for whenever I land a job one day) it's just when that time comes I would want them to hire me because they see potential in me being good at the job, not because they're looking for a white male in his late 20's.
